Scheduling a Field Trip
Our field trips are geared towards children between the ages of 4 – 7 years of age (generally pre-school through second grade). We require adequate supervision, since we have a limited staff to assist the children in the field. To schedule a field trip email firstname.lastname@example.org.
General Field Trip Information
We offer one scheduled tour at 10:30 on Monday and Wednesday starting in May, or when we expect to have enough berries for all the little hands to pick.
The tour needs to arrive at the farm at approximately 10:15 am. and the group(s) is welcome to bring lunches, and enjoy lunch on the farm at the picnic shelter.
Cost Per Child – $8.00
(includes educational presentation–which takes about 20 minutes, one container of strawberries—picked by the child, plus a few other surprises.)
Accompanying adults/teachers – adults/teachers only pay if they want to pick berries. The price can change from year to year, and will be the normal amount charged for other non-field trip customers who pick their own berries.
We have porta-potties with hand sanitizers for field trip use.
Here is a Strawberry Vocabulary worksheet you can print and use to prepare your students. Before your field trip, here are a few suggested readings:
- The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood
- The First Strawberries by Joseph Bruchac and Anna Vojtech
- Strawberries are Red by Petr Horacek
- Strawberry Shortcake Treasury by Siobhan Ciminera, Sonia Sander, and Monique Z. Stephens!
